Camp Guggenheim

Camp Guggenheim!

HIKE. SWIM. PRAISE.

The Guggenheim Center is one of the Diocese's jewels.

Camp guggenheim is a great place for all kids ages 12-18 to dive deeper into their faith while getting a full camp experience. Recommended for everyone ages 12-18. This beautiful camp is located on the north shore of lower Saranac Lake, just west of the Village of Saranac Lake in Franklin County, in the heart of the Adirondack Mountains. About 150 acres of land comprise the Guggenheim Center that was given to the Diocese of Ogdensburg in 1963 by Edmund Guggenheim.

The Guggenheim center is divided into two sections of operation known as the Dorm and the Lodge.  The Dorm area, which can accommodate 80 over-night campers, hosts a seven-week youth camp during July and August for young people from age 12 to 18, three family-camping weekends, and serves as an over-night location for Newman campus ministry gatherings, high school retreats, and numerous other events.  The Lodge can accommodate thirteen overnight guests. It is often used by priests, nuns, their families, and other church-related groups. It has also been used to accommodate day-long events for various diocesan organizations such as youth ministry, deacons, etc.

From the very young to senior citizens, from individuals to parish groups and diocesan programs, the Guggenheim Center provides a place where the people of this diocese can praise God in the midst of the beauty of the natural world. (Obtained by Canton Catholics)
