9 Days for Life

  • Date: Monday, January 14, 2019
  • Time: 12:00 AM - 11:45 PM
  • Description: 9 DAYS FOR LIFE - NATIONWIDE NOVENA
In January 1973, the U.S. Supreme Court effectively removed every legal protection from human beings before birth through its rulings Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton. Since then, millions of lives have been destroyed by abortion, and countless women traumatized so deeply that they spend years struggling to find peace, healing, and reconciliation.
Leading up to the annual Day of Prayer for the Legal Protection of Unborn Children on January 22, 2019, the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops is sponsoring a Nationwide Novena called 9 Days for Life from Monday, January 14 to Tuesday, January 22. Each novena day will see a different human life intention highlighted and daily reflections, educational information, and suggested acts of reparation are provided.
Visit www.9daysforlife.com to get the novena by downloading a free mobile app (with customizable daily reminders), or by signing up for daily email or text messages. (A printable version is also available online.)
Pope St. John Paul II wrote: "a great prayer for life is urgently needed, a prayer which will rise up throughout the world. Through special initiatives and in daily prayer, may an impassioned plea rise to God, the Creator and lover of life, from every Christian community, from every group and association, from every family and from the heart of every believer."

Day of Prayer...

Day of Prayer for the Legal Protection of Unborn Children

  • Date: Tuesday, January 22, 2019
  • All day event
  • Description: A Great Prayer for LIFE is Urgently Needed....
a prayer which will rise up throughout the world. Through special initiatives and in daily prayer, may an impassioned plea rise to God, the Creator and lover of life, from every Christian community, from every group and association, from every family and from the heart of every believer. - Pope Saint John Paul II, Evangelium Vitae, no. 100
The over 56 million abortions since the 1973 decisions of Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton reflect with heartbreaking magnitude what Pope Francis means by a "throwaway culture." However, we have great trust in God's providence. We are reminded time and again in Scripture to seek the Lord's help, and as people of faith, we believe that our prayers are heard.
The General Instruction of the Roman Missal designates January 22 as a particular day of prayer and penance, called the "Day of Prayer for the Legal Protection of Unborn Children": "In all Dioceses of the United Stated, January 22 shall be observed as a particular day of prayer for the full restoration of the legal guarantee of the right to life, and of penance for violations to the dignity of the human person committed through acts of abortion."

  • 9 Days for Life

    Monday Jan 14, 2019 12:00 AM to 11:45 PM

9 DAYS FOR LIFE - NATIONWIDE NOVENA

  • Day of Prayer for the Legal Protection of Unborn Children

Tuesday Jan 22, 2019 All day

A Great Prayer for LIFE is Urgently Needed....
a prayer which will rise up throughout the world.

Last year twenty-one grants were awarded which benefited those working to build a Culture of Life in our diocese. It's important with this year's legislative climate that we provide alternatives to abortion and help to educate the next generation. The collection provided funds for 7 Gabriel Projects, Plattsburgh Crisis Pregnancy Center, Birthright, Right to Life affiliates, 4 pilgrimages to the DC March for Life (two high school, one college and one family bus), 3 Pro-Life County Fair Booths as well as other pro-life efforts.
